Old classics: Ratchet and Clank (2002)

Games editor Ahmad Danesh looks back at the early noughtie PS2 classic Ratchet and Clank

Old classics: Ratchet and Clank (2002)

Ah, yes. In the now-distant world of 480p gaming, there once was a title called ‘Ratchet and Clank’. It featured Ratchet (whose favourite weapon is in fact a ratchet) and his robot friend, Clank. They would chase enemies through wild terrain and admittedly fantastic landscapes, with great storytelling.

Interestingly, fan rumours were confirmed that one of its later titles ‘a Crank in Time’ was originally due to be called ‘Ratchet and Clank: Clock Blockers’, according to n4g.com in 2009. Unsurprisingly, the name never materialised, and the original classic in 2002 still lives on today as a platinum title.
