Sustainability Inspiration of the week: Kiss the ground

Weekly sustainability inspiration this week is the documentary 'Kiss the ground' about regenerative agriculture

Environment

in Issue 1758

Kiss the Ground is all about regenerative agriculture. In just 84 minutes, you can learn about the potential of healthy soils in combatting climate change and biodiversity loss.

Narrated by Woody Harrelson, this documentary describes the ways in which we have not only degraded our land since the boom of industrial farming, but also become increasingly reliant on unnatural methods (overuse of pesticides and fertilizers) to combat agricultural problems. With inputs from scientists, doctors, environmental activists, regenerative ranchers, ecologists, and more, this documentary is an excellent gateway into learning about how soil, a fundamental component of our biosphere, could hold the key to reversing climate change.

By going back to basics and restoring nutrient rich soils, we can change how we farm, and enhance our soil's natural capacity to sequester and store carbon in the atmosphere.

If you’re curious to find out more about the impacts of agriculture and food on climate change, be sure to check out some of the books by Josh Tickel, the producer of this documentary, including: ‘How the Food you Eat Can Reverse Climate Change’, ‘Kiss the Ground’ and ‘Heal Your Body and Ultimately Save the World'
