Imperial comes out swinging with first University Challenge win

First bout of this year's competition sees Imperial dominate Manchester with a 310-75 point win

Imperial’s University Challenge team succeeded in their first bout, as they scored an impressive 310 points against the University of Manchester’s 75 on Monday 16th September.

Following on from last year’s record- breaking fifth victory, the team, comprising of team captain Matthew Spry, Char- lotte Stokes, Jaime Salamanca Camacho, and last year’s reserve Mattia Elkouby, dominated the first round.

Of particular note was Salamanca Camacho, who clutched several questions and was deferred to regularly. The whole team did incredibly well, with host Amol Rajan describing their performance as “extraordinary”.

College says it will “take any opportunity to hear what people think, to listen, and to answer questions.”
