Commemoration Day date released

Imperial has announced Wednesday 21st  October as the date for this year’s Commemoration Day ceremony, celebrating the undergraduate graduating class of 2026. Graduation days, similar events organised mainly for outgoing postgraduate students, will take place on 2nd and 3rd June.

More than 3,000 students are expected to attend, with official confirmation to eligible graduates due to be released in August. The ceremony is free, but students are responsible for the cost of academic dress.

The annual event owes its name to 1945 royal visit to Imperial marking the centenary of the Royal College of Chemistry, one of the College’s predecessor institutions. Commemoration Day will be held in the Royal Albert Hall, where Imperial has hosted  graduation events for the last 60 years.

Both Graduation and Commemoration ceremonies in 2025 were disrupted by onstage student demonstrations in favour of the Palestinian cause.
