Grok removed from College AI platform
Grok, the generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by xAI, is no longer available on dAIsy, Imperial’s artificial intelligence platform. Staff and students can still converse with various models of ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, and Llama.
Grok, which is part of billionaire Elon Musk’s tech empire, has been at the centre of numerous controversies due to its generation of explicit and offensive content. It is currently under investigation by the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for allowing users to generate millions of sexualised deepfakes – many of which targeting women and children – by altering real photographs.
Imperial did not give a specific reason for the change. The College remains active on X, a social media platform owned by xAI into which Grok is embedded.
