Imperial will open a new medical school for graduate students in 2025.

Launched in partnership with the University of Cumbria, it will be called The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.

The school is part of the government’s 2023 NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, and is funded by a £5m donation from the Pears Foundation.

It aims to train more medical professionals to serve in ‘regions with the greatest need’.

“We are proud to partner with the University of Cumbria to train the next generation of doctors who will provide world-class clinical care for the local community,” said President Hugh Brady.
