Kristin Blanchfield appointed Vice President for Advancement

Kristin Blanchfield is to succeed interim Vice President for Advancement Peter Haynes. She will begin to head the advancement division and be a “key member” of the University Management Board from January 2025.

Blanchfield will join the College after working for more than a decade at John Hopkins University in the US, where she works as Senior Associate Vice President for Philanthropic Partnerships. She has worked across a number of higher education institutions in her career after she graduated from Trinity College, Hartford.

In her role, she will “focus on driving fundraising and alumni engagement” as part of the new College strategy. “I am honoured to be joining Imperial at such a critical and exciting moment under the leadership of President Brady,” she said, as well as stating that the new strategy “is a compelling framework for philanthropic support and engagement.”

Outgoing Vice President Haynes, who is also the Vice-Provost for Education and Student Experience, took on the role in an interim capacity after previous Vice President Michael Murphy left the position in March 2024.

College President Hugh Brady said, “Kristin will bring her wealth of leadership experience in alumni engagement and philanthropy to harness the full power of the global Imperial community so that we have the resources to maximise our incredible potential as a force for good in the world.”
