March elections turnout fails to beat last year's

As voting closed at 2pm on Thursday 12th March, over 146,000 ballots had been electronically cast in the 2026 student elections.

The turnout for student-run Clubs, Societies and Project (CSP) Elections was 28.8%, while the turnout for non-CSP “General” Elections was 24.4%.

Both turnout rates were slightly lower than in last year’s election, when 33.6% of students voted in CSP Elections and 25.0% in General Elections, with an aggregate turnout of 34.2%.

The vast majority of voters were undergraduate students, and one society (Feminist) achieved a 100% turnout rate for its 23 members. 38 societies met the 80% turnout threshold required by the Union to enter a raffle for vouchers.

Results will be announced at 6pm on Friday 13th March.
