Protesters campaign for Imperial to “stop arming Israel”
Around 20 pro-Palestinian activists returned to Queen’s Lawn with Palestinian flags and banners on Thursday, calling on Imperial to cut ties with arms companies.
The protest, the third of this academic year, was backed by the Trade Union Congress as well as the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, and had been announced earlier in the day. A source familiar with the matter told Felix that the protest organisers had received authorisation beforehand.
Organisers called on the protestors to continue engaging the Imperial community, as well as highlighting the threat of an end to the ceasefire brokered by the Trump administration, following a tense week of negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
A member of the public who was passing through and had seen the organisers setting up described the protest as “disheartening” and believed the protestors were mistaken. However, several students passing by offered their support to the protestors.
