MintNeuro spinout raises $5 million to develop chips for the brain

MintNeuro, an Imperial spinout developing semiconductor chips designed to work inside the human body, has raised $5 million from European and US investors. The round, announced 7 October, was led by Odyssey Ventures.

The company grew out of the Next Generation Neural Interfaces Lab in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, led by Professor Tim Constandinou. In 2024, it raised £1 million, backed by the Imperial College Enterprise Fund and the conversion of a loan note from the MedTech SuperConnector Seed Fund.

MintNeuro has since delivered working chips and reached integration milestones with Amber Therapeutics and Motif Neurotech, with whom they have signed a multi-year deal for a neurostimulator targeting treatment-resistant depression.

The new funding will support product launches, partnerships and international expansion including Sillicon Valley.
