Imperial represented at global AI summit in India
Amanda Wolthuizen, one Imperial College’s Vice-Presidents, attended the India AI Impact Summit which took place in New Delhi from 16th to 20th February.
The College cemented new artificial intelligence research partnerships with institutes in the South Asian country, including the joint development of a platform to provide mental health support to young Indian women, models to predict air pollution dynamics, and technology to decarbonise steel manufacturing.
In spite of delays caused by traffic jams and last-minute cancellations, the summit, which was hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drew the heads of some of the hottest AI and tech companies, including Google’s Sundar Pinchai, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and Anthropic’s Dario Amodei.
Imperial opened a new Bengaluru-based “Global hub” last May, to serve as a collaboration platform.
Editor's note: the print version of this article incorrectly stated that the Global Hub India would open in May 2026 instead of May 2025. We apologise for any confusion.
